The idea is simple really, it’s all one big marketing campaign. Companies have recognised that in this new age of computers and the internet that they have to adjust their marketing strategies and move away from the standard advertising through TV and media.

That way rather than one person going to their site they now have 10 and this number just esculates as each of your friends and family do the same.
It sounds like a loosing strategy for them but compared to the millions they spend each year on advertising, giving away items worth a couple of hundred is a drop in the ocean to them.
